Graeme Drendel’s Mind’s Eye
At The Stock Rooms we think Graeme Drendel is a painter with an interesting if slightly bent view of life and his place in it. His figures appear normal at first but on closer examination appear in somewhat strange situations. As curator Caroline Field explains: “Stance, expression and body language provide significant keys to these drama-laced works!”
Graeme is one of the busiest painters with a prolific output of paintings and prints. Graeme Drendel is also one of Australia’s finest draughtsmen with a beautiful hand and a clear and precise drawing style which lends itself to his etchings and editions. The Stock Rooms has a strong collection of Graeme’s work. Our favourites; Carriers of the Colours, The Soothsayer and The Kiss.
